How much does a 'Custom' Clifton Camper conversion cost?It depends on what you want from the design however we start at £10,000 for a build. This includes all the materials and labour. You provide the vechicle and we do the rest. We begin with discussing what you want from the van and any ideas you already have and actively encourage pintrest/instagram etc images to help provide an idea of what you are looking for. We also discuss the interior design of the van chosing colour schemes and fittings. We then provide you with an estimate with layout drawings, colour scheme and interior design finishes. Once an estimate/drawings has been signed off we request a 50% desposit which covers some of the materials and we get to work delivering your dream van. The build takes around 3 months depending on the spec and we like to provide customers with weekly updates in the form of photos so you can see how the build is coming along which is part of the fun! We then take the remaining 50% of the agreed fee once we hand the van back over to you. You then drive off into the sunset with your new converted van to explore this lovely world in!

What type of vans do you convert?Based on our experience we prefer to convert long wheel (LWB) or extra long wheel base (XLWB) Peugeot Boxers, Citron Relays or Fiat Ducatos as we feel these are the best shape to work with for the designs we believe work the best. These three are slightly wider than Volkswagon crafters or Merchades sprinters meaning you can usually comfortably sleep widthways instead of length ways meaning you have more space in the 'living space' for the kitchen, dining area etc. These vehicles are generally very reliable with rust free bodywork meaning the investment in converting a mini home on wheels will last a long time and priovide many happy memories.

Do you supply the base vehicle? For custom builds we usually ask you the customer to provide the van however we can help you choose the right van. From experience we totally understand that buying a van can be a daunting experience. They are not cheap, there are lots of them out there and well vehicle dealers arn't known for their honesty. We can tell you what to look out for, what's a good price, an ideal milage, etc etc to help you find the right vehicle for the project. At the end of the day it's in both of our interests that you find the right one!

Can you fit a window for us?Yes! Fitting windows is one of the first jobs you undertake on a van conversion and one of the most daunting! Get it wrong and its a (very) expensive job to fix. I can take the stress out of the job and fit them for you. It's £125 per window to fit and I can travel to you to fit or alternatively come to our workshop. I can also advise where best to purchase your windows from and provide advise on whether to have opening or fixed windows.

Is the LPG gas professionally signed off?Yes! Saftey is paramount to us. All our vans have LPG gas systems fitted professionally. These are not done inhouse but outsourced to professional companies and come with offical sign off. Our vans usually come with a 2 ring gas stove, a shut off valve and a gas locker that stores a 907 campingaz bottle with LPG valve. Depending on how much you use the gas we find a 907 gas bottle lasts all summer, however we usually keep a spare bottle in the garage for when it finally does run out.
-
Due to the pandemic can the conversion be done remotely?Yes! What crazy strange times we live in! Everything we do regarding the consulation phase we can do over the phone, zoom, email etc and once the van conversion is completed we will ensure that it is handed over cleaned from top to bottom.
-
Do you take on part builds?Yes. Depending on the situation of the build. I am happy to do the first phase (base phase) or complete a project and take on a project with the first phase already done. We totally understand that situations change regarding time and finances. Get in contact and we will see what we can do to get your van on the road.
-
Can I choose my own interior design.Yes! Designing a van for someone is a two way process. It's your van so you can chose whatever fabric, material you like. We have lots of colour schemes and designs created by ourselves that we think look great in a van that we can suggest but are moer than happy to mix and match or tweet to suit your style.

Will you get updates on how the builds coming along?Yes if we are making a custom van for you we think its really important that you see whats happening to your investment. It's also very exciting and makes it feel more 'real' seeing the process. Every week we provide customers with an update with photos taken of the build that week and if the build is on plan for the delivery date. You can also see how the build is going by following our instagram account - cliftoncampers.
